Here are some pictures from our fall getaway trip in Bryson City, North Carolina. We stayed in a cute mountain cabin and enjoyed the views. Poor L was sick during the weekend but she did pretty good considering how lousy she felt. We had a great time-It was nice to get away!

My sweet baby turned 2 on October 18th! I can't believe she is already 2 years old! The years are just flying by! She brings so much joy to our family! She can light up a room with that sweet smile and crinkled nose! L and W love her so and miss her terribly when she is gone visiting grandmommy like she has been this week! W is playing soccer this fall and having a great time. He has really improved greatly since last year. He has gotten more aggressive and has already scored several goals so far!! They have a great team! D is coaching again the year. Here are a few pictures so far this season. Go Tornados!!

W lost his first tooth last week-He actually let me pull it out for him. Can't believe he is growing up so fast. Now his little boy look is going to start to change! Makes me so sad!

L celebrated her 9th B-day back in August! She had some friends over for another sleepover this year! The girls had a great time singing, dancing and playing American dolls! Of course they stayed up way too late but all got along great! Can't believe your nine years old! Hope you have a wonderful year L-We love you!

First day of School

Well, it's official...I have 2 children in school! One in 4th grade and one in kindergarten. W was so excited about school this morning. He didn't want me to walk him into the classroom, but of course I did. It makes me feel a little better that L is there at the school with him. In fact, when I was picking them up today I saw W hand his backpack to L for her to carry! It was so cute! I think he is ready for this adventure and hope he has a fabulous year!!

I really can't believe that L is in the 4th grade. She has grown up so much over the past year. She gets to change classes this year for every class. This should be interesting for her. I just hope she is able to keep up with everything and stay focused!!

We had a nice 4th of July this year spent with D's family. We went up to Blue Ridge to see the fireworks. AG was so cute watching them. She was very quiet while watching them and she kept putting her arm around me and hugging me. It was so cute! I was glad no tears were shed!!

Rafting on the Nantahala!

Here are some pictures of our trip to the Nantahala. This was my first rafting experience and I have to say it WAS pretty fun. Poor L started out crying and scared to death. It didn't last long though-she had a good time up until the end at the falls seen in these pictures. I accidently hit her in the head with the top of my paddle. Ouch! I know that hurt!! This rapid is a class 3! Nobody fell out of the boat - I was very proud of myself!!

Swimming Lessons

W took swimming lessons a few weeks ago. He has done so much better this year than last year. He is not scared of the water like he was last year which is good. Hopefully, when we go to the beach in a few weeks he will be able to practice and get even better! Check out the short video at the end of the pictures.

I can't believe my sweet AG is 18 months! She is growing so quickly it makes me very sad! I am so enjoying her at this age. I want to remember everything about her during this time so I thought I would blog about her and her personality.

~You are the best sleeper ever! You go down around 8:00 p.m. and sleep until 9:00 a.m. I often have to wake you up in the morning!! I am wondering how long this will last.

~You always wake up in the best mood!! Your favorite breakfast foods include scrambled eggs, waffles, cinnamon rolls, cereal with milk on it (you love to eat it with your hands) and muffins. Other foods you like are homemade vegetable soup, strawberries, oatmeal, and french fries. You really are not a big fruit eater like your brother and sister.

~You love your small pink blanket (baby) as you call it that your Aunt Kim gave you! Can't sleep with out it or leave home without it for that matter.

~You love your big sis L and big bro W- You just have learned to say both of there names this week and it just makes me smile!

~You absolutely ADORE your Daddy! I love to hear you say his name and say goodbye to him when he leaves for work. He will tickle you and you scream" DAAAAA ----EEEEEEEEE" So cute!

~You have really started to talk more lately-Some of the words you say are ...mommy, daddy, ball, more, Abbie(our dog) actually every dog you see is called Abbie, car, cow, duck, baby, flower(fauwer), eat and bath. This week you combined three words "bye, bye Daddy." You will TRY to say anything someone tells you to say.

~You love to watch Barney and your Baby Einstein DVD's- You have learned several words in sign language by watching one them! (mommy, daddy, more, milk, blanket, bath, ball and friend)

~You love to play with your babies, talk on your cell phone, go down your slide, play outside, play with your sister and brother and Abbie our dog, bubbles ( just learned how to blow your own bubbles), and climbing on all furniture!!

~You don't like having your diaper changed at all- I have to chase you around to get you and then most of the time you are standing up while I am doing it.

~You love your bath at night and get the "nighttime crazies" as we call it and start running around the house giggling!

I am so behind on updating this blog! It's starting to overwhelm me a bit. We have so much going on this time of year. I guess I will just start with L at her State gymnastics meet back in mid April. She did so good! Her scores improved greatly over the year. In fact she earned her 1st 9.0 on the vault!! Way to go!!! She will continue on with gymnastics this summer. When your on the team, you don't get much of a break!! We are so proud of you L!!

Sickness, sickness go away...

The last few weeks have been crazy! I knew the sickness was coming our way-It had just been too quiet for too long! I just didn't know it would hit us all in the form of a stomach virus in one night. This happened about a week ago and actually I was the one who came down with it first, then D, then L then W!! Thank goodness little AG was the only one who didn't get it! It was a pretty miserable weekend and for the most of the week trying to recover from it. The kids just did get their appetite back this week.

Just as I thought we were all doing better, AG had been coughing all week last week. She then started wheezing on Friday and by Saturday afternoon I was headed up to Urgent Care. I thought I had done really good by using the call ahead service so we would not have to wait for hours with all the other sick kids. However, after we got there and were seen rather quickly, they ended up giving her 2 different types of breathing treatments. After they gave her the 2nd one, they told me that she would have to stay out in the waiting room for 2 hours so that they could "watch" her to see how she responded! So, for the next 2 hours I chased around my 17 month old in a germ infested waiting room-all the while praying that she doesn't catch something else! Fun Times!! Come to find out they think she has bronchiolitis which doesn't really respond well to the breathing treatments. There is no antibiotics for it-so she will just slowly get better over the next week or so. I am so ready for Spring!

Here is a portion of L's 3rd grade PTO performance this past week. She had the last line in the skit and I started recording in the middle (sorry). All the kids sounded so good singing. I even got a little teary eyed! You can also hear AG pretending to talk on her cell phone. Sorry the video is a little shaky, I use my camera to record sometimes because it is easier to upload on the computer. Also, don't forget to turn off the blog music at the bottom of the page so you can here the video.

For the past 24 hours my house has been a little calmer and quieter. (Did I just say that??) Our little AG is visiting grandma and grandpa for a few days. She is getting to spend some quality time with them, while I am enjoying the break from chasing around a 16 month old for a couple days. I must say that although we miss her around here, it is SO nice to have a break now and then. Gives me the chance to "recharge" my battery and hopefully be a better mom. She is such little sweetheart but is really starting to throw some fits(with very high pitched squeals) and get into everything around the house. Hopefully, she is being a perfect little angel for the grandparents so she will be able to come back soon for another visit:) Thanks for the break Mom and Dad!

I finally was able to attend L's gymnastics meet last weekend along with my parents with out any other children to distract me. It was so nice to be able to watch her and really focus on what she was doing. I am so proud of her. She has really came along way over these past few months and her scores really showed it. She was finally able to complete her back bend kick over that she has been having trouble with. She was so very proud of herself and her 10th place overall medal she earned. She has one more meet in a few weeks and then we will find out if she qualifies for the state meet in April. Great Job L-keep up the good work!!

Here is a picture of L with her 7th place medal for her over all score at her 2nd gymnastics meet. She had to get up at 5 am on Saturday for her meet and will have to do it all again this Saturday for another one. She did really good with getting up so early. In fact, that evening she spent the night with a friend and the girls stayed up until 3:30am-Which means she was up for almost 24 hours. I really don't know how she does it! She has so much energy and has been on the go since she was born!!

First gymnastics meet

Saturday was L's first gymnastics meet. It was a big one, with over 72 level 2 girls competing from ages 4 to 18. There were about 20 competing in her age 8 group. They then break that group down to 10 in each and give out medals on all the events.(bar, beam, floor and vault) Medals are given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and ribbons for 4th and 5th. She did earn medal for 8th place in overall score for all the events in her age group. She was so proud! I am so glad they do try to give something out to all the girls.

The whole event was pretty interesting to watch. Some of these girls came out of the room with 4 or 5 first place medals around their neck. I hope to be able to post some video of her competing in one of the other up coming meets. We had AG with us, so for most of the time D and I were taking turns walking around with her. This is not a place to take 15 month olds!!

My little snuggle bug.....

God finally gave me a child that loves to snuggle! AG is the first of my children that just loves to hug and snuggle with you. Whenever you tell her to go hug someone, she goes right up to them puts her arms around their neck and always gives them several pats on the back. It is the cutest thing! At night when I am putting her in the bed, she will just lay her head on my shoulder and let me rock her. She will just be so still doesn't try to get down at all. L on the other hand was never like that! She was always on the go-still is! I guess that is why she loves gymnastics-all that energy! W was a little better at snuggling with me. He was not as active as L. But, I am thankful God gave me one snuggle bug.... especially on cold days like today!

New paint of the walls-new outlook

We finally got around to painting our bedroom this past weekend. That is quite an accomplishment considering we have had the paint for about 9 months. At first I wasn't sure If I really liked it. The color was a lot darker than I thought. But after the sun came out, I decided I did. We even switched around some furniture and I feel like I have a whole new room! Now getting David to put up the crown molding will probably take another year!

It is so nice to sleep on a bed that has no dust under it ( at least for a while). Nothing like painting a room to really get you to do that "deep cleaning." I really use to be an organized person- before kids came along. After I had AG -I have had to learn to "let it go." Unless, I spend every waking moment running around the house like a mad woman cleaning -it is not going to stay clean. The house will always be here with a mess to clean, but the children won't! Before, I know it they will be grown and out the doors! Then I will have all the time in the world to focus on having a clean house! I have to say with AG this time around I really have done better! I have learned to "savor" every moment and just "let it go!" Now, I'm off to do some laundry before she wakes up!

Enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, but I will be glad to get back into a routine when school starts next week. This past weekend was all about L!! She had a starring role in the church Christmas play with lots of lines to memorize and even her first short solo in a song. I think I have a little actor/singer on my hands. She did very good!! She didn't appear to be nervous at all!! Her voice was beautiful and strong! She has really come out of her shell over the last few months! This past summer at our family reunion at the beach she got up in front of everyone and sang a song beautifully!! I am so proud of her!!

She also had her first mock gymnastics meet! I could tell she was really nervous for this! She did pretty good for her first time. She got a little messed up on her floor routine-She is still trying to master a skill and was a little frustrated about not getting it! I told her it will come with time and PRACTICE. Sorry some of the pictures are blurry- They wouldn't let you use a flash in the gym! I think I got more video than pictures. I am actually surprised I got to see her do anything because most of the time I was chasing AG around the gym. She was everywhere! At one point she even stepped of the edge of the mat and fell face first into mirror on the wall. It really scared me- but she was fine, didn't cry at all! So the next few months should be interesting going to all these meets with 14 month old!! FUN, FUN!!!

I was afraid this was going to happen. I start this blog and then life gets crazy and I can't find the time to update it like I want to. So far, I am the only one in the family who is not coughing. I just pray that I miss out on this sickness!! I finally finished putting up the Christmas decorations. I think I have been doing it for about 3 weeks now. I try to get it out early and put up a little at a time so it's not so overwhelming-However, I think it drags it out too long and puts the house in shambles for an extended amount of time!! Glad it is finally done... Just to turn around and take it back down in a few weeks- It's all worth it!

We have been very busy around here! W finished up his soccer season and loved it. It was so cute to watch them progress over the weeks. By the time the last game was played, all the boys (and girls) were getting aggressive and going after the ball. W scored several goals which made him very happy and of course he LOVED getting his trophy. We just started basketball practice last week. This should be very fun to watch. He can actually shoot pretty good!

L is still loving her gymnastics class. She will start competing in January. We got the schedule for all of her meets. I know where I am going to be almost every weekend in January and February.... On the road driving all over the place to see her. The places they compete are anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours away. This should be fun!! I'm sure I will have some pictures to post! She has her 1st mock meet next Saturday to get the girls use to having people watch them.

AG is walking all over the place. We are all enjoying her so much. She brings so much joy to our family. She is talking a little. Her words she can say at the moment are dada, mama, baby, aaaaaaa (abbie- our dog), bye-bye, hey. She has started to show the first signs of having a fit by throwing her head back and screaming out. I am SO looking forward to this stage! She is so attached to her "pink blankie" that her aunt gave her. Both L and W had and still have there blanket and blue doggie. They both had to take it with them to preschool their first year. I can already see that she will be doing the same.

I hope to get some recent pictures on here soon as we TRY to take a photo for our Christmas card. But, I am not going to stress this year over it-I have a back up plan if the picture doesn't work out!!

A trip to the mountains

Here are some pictures of our recent trip to the mountains last week. We had a great time, except for AG not being able to go to sleep in the hotel room and then waking up again at about 4:00 am both nights. She was not use to sleeping in the same room with us -and then W woke up from her crying and couldn't get back to sleep! It was just great! I'm sure the people in the next room just loved to listen to a screaming baby in the middle of the night. Other than that we had a nice time enjoying the fall leaves!

Dear AG,

Happy Birthday my sweet little girl! I can't believe it has been a whole year since you were placed in my arms and became apart of our family! You have the most beautiful blue eyes, sweetest laugh and the best disposition! You are very laid back and go with the flow which is very nice with all the busy times we have had this year. It has been so much fun watching you grow from a precious little infant to an alert, inquisitive baby! Your brother and sister love you so much and can't get enough of you! I cherish the moments of watching the interaction between all of you. Your daddy loves you so much-I think you have a very special bond with him-When he walks into the room your face just lights up and that makes him so happy!

God has blessed me with 3 wonderful and healthy children and I thank him everyday for the life he has given me! I look forward to watching you grow and learn new things over this next year! It makes me a little teary eyed to live the baby stage, but I have savored every moment of it and look forward to what lies ahead!! We love you sweet baby girl!!

Soccer season begins!!

The soccer season is well under way for W this fall and he is having a great time! He might be one of the smallest ones on the team, but he really gets out there and gets after the ball. It is so cute to see all of them out on the field. All running huddled up together trying to kick the ball. David is enjoying the coaching- Although, I have to remind him that they are only 4 and 5 year olds and sometimes there attention span is... well.... you know what I'm talking about! Of course we don't officially keep score for this age group, but David does-- Our record so far is 1-1! Go Rapids!!

W's class went on a field trip to the apple house. He had so much fun. There was so much for the kids to do. He actually got to milk a cow ( I missed that picture- I think I was talking-imagine that!) go to a petting zoo, go on a wagon ride, and learned about apples. So fun~

L started taking gymnastics at new place this year. She really enjoys it! In fact, she has made the team for level 2 to compete this winter. I think she has really found her talent God gave her. We tried the dance thing when she was younger, but she never really enjoyed it like she does the gymnastics. This will be a be change for her-Last year she only took a 45 minute class 1 time a week-This year she will be taking 2 classes a week for 3 hours each. So far, she is doing good- a little sore and some blisters on her hand, but she is hanging in there. I think they will start competing in January. We will keep you posted on her progress!!

Today was W first day of Pre -K! He was so ready to get back to school and be with his friends. He did great! He has a couple of friends from last year in his class but he will make lots of new ones this year. He only goes 3 days a week from 8-12 so I still have him at home with me one more year until he starts Kindergarten! I can't believe he will be old enough to start K next year! Trains, Trains and more Trains

W loves to play with his trains. It's first thing he does when he wakes up and the last thing he does before he goes to bed. AG has gotten to be more mobile over the last few months. She loves to go into his room and pull up on his train table and look at the trains-and of course pull off all the track. She also loves to tear up any train track that he has put together on the floor in our living room. Needless to say, W is beside himself- When he sees AG coming towards his trains he starts screaming "She's coming, get her mama"-This goes on all day at our house. In a few years, with any luck maybe he will have a buddy to play trains with him. By that time he probably won't like them anymore! Gotta love it!!

L- came in the other afternoon telling us she saw some baby birds- and to my surprise this is what I found! The birds were not shy at all-I think there were around 4 in the nest!

So, I thought I would post something that was not a picture today. I'm stealing this idea from a fellow friend at operation motherhood. This will be an ongoing post about the gifts that I am thankful for in my life no matter how big or small. I will try to post some every week.

1. Being able to be a stay-at-home mom for 8 years!!

2. My very hard working husband

3. 3 healthy children

4. My friends -they keep me sane!

5. My house

6. The sounds of tiny clapping hands

7. Seeing the pride of accomplishment in my daughter's eyes

8. The sounds of trains going around a track in the early morning(or all day for that matter)

9. The excitement in my children when they hear the snow cone truck coming down the street

10. High chair + cheerios = happy baby (at least for a little while-so I can get something done!)

11. Family Vacations to PCB while growing up

12. A mother who stayed at home to raise us and was always there when we needed her

13. A dad who is always listens and never judges

14. A paid for college education!! Thank you!

15. Spending time with my brother and his family this summer- I wish we lived closer!

16. A husband who is very handy around the house

17. Silence in the house when the kids are asleep

18. The sound of a baby talking in the morning in her bed

19. The beautiful sound of my daughter singing

20. The many questions of a 4 year old about God

21. A mother-in-law and father-in-law that are so generous and kind

22. A sister-in-law who is so talented and would do anything for you!

23. 2 beautiful nieces and 3 handsome nephews

24. A grandmother and grandfather who are in there late 80's and healthy!

25. A brother who made me laugh a lot while growing up

HAPPY B-DAY!

L had her first Slumber Party this past weekend for her 8th B-day!

She loved her cake!

Thank goodness for Thomas the Tank engine-Those trains kept the kids occupied during the reunion.

3rd Grader- Already?

Today was L's first day of 3rd grade! Where did the time go? It seems like yesterday she was just starting preschool! She was very excited about getting her own locker to put her stuff in- and couldn't wait to tell me all about it when I picked her up today. And of course she had to have the "High School Musical" backpack like every other kid in the school! She even gets to change classes for science.

She has really grown up a lot over the last year-getting more independent. It just really makes you see how fast time goes when I look at AG at 9 months and I can see L at that age-and doesn't seem that long ago! It just makes me want to cherish every day before it slips away!

Welcome to the world of blogging

I can't believe that I am an official blogger! After months of spending countless hours in front of the computer screen reading other people's blogs and saying "How do these people have time for this?" I have decided to try it! If for no other reason simply to chronicle these crazy days of mothering my young children as the time goes by so fast. After having my third child in October last year- The days are going by too fast and I just want to savor every moment. I use to be a "scrap booker"- I was pretty good with my first child, not so good with my second and my 3rd child will be lucky if I get the pictures in a book for her. I figured this blogging idea might really work for me- So, i think I will be using it mostly like a digital scrapbook for my children and family and friends who want to keep up with us. I am not sure how often I will post or how it will go- but I am excited about it and hope that it is something that I can keep up with!
